Rescue dog: Paris

15 Feb

Paris was surrendered by an animal hoarder, along with the now adopted Nikki, to the shelter in Lancaster. Evidently conditions at the hoarder’s home were terrible and animal control was making him give up dogs on a weekly basis. No dogs on the property were sterilized and all were apparently interbreeding over and over again.

Rescue volunteers pulled Paris from the Lancaster shelter with her buddy Nikki and she was in terrible shape. It was evident she just had yet another litter of pups. In addition, we discovered that her ear canals had closed and after a necessary ear ablation surgery to remove her ear canals, she is now deaf.  We also discovered that her vocal cords were cut by her previous owner.  She is extremely scared and nervous to the point that she cringes upon any human touch, likely because of torment she endured in her previous conditions.

Paris’ condition continues improve, albeit slowly, and daily and she gets a little more comfortable and confident. She is on medication to reduce her stress and she is also on supplements and prescription vitamins to help her gain weight.   It is going to take a long time to rehabilitate her and get her to the point that she can be in a loving home of her own to make up for all of those years of suffering.  Please consider sponsoring her to help her on her way to recovery.

You can view a video of Paris with her fellow foster and sponsor dog, Hula Girl (RIP) below:

"When I first saw Jackie, I have to say it was love at first sight and that we were meant to be together. I was so terrified that I would fail as a new mommy to this beautiful girl who did not know how to trust or love. Jackie has become more than a pet to me; she is my companion, my friend and my shadow; some say I saved her life, but I know the reality is that she saved my life too." -Vicki G.
