Rescue Dog: Hilly

16 Aug

Hilly was left in an overnight drop crate at the Hesperia Animal shelter. She was scanned for a microchip and one was found, unfortunately it was never registered. The chip company did have some information. They knew that she had been chipped by the puppy mill that sold her to a pet store. That pet store is still open in Hesperia and the shelter called and was able to get the name of the person who bought Hilly. They were also given the date she was sold, that is how we know she will be 8 years old in December. The shelter contacted her owners but they never returned calls or came looking for this precious girl. It was obvious that they were likely the people who dumped Hilly at the shelter.

She has evidently had numerous litters in her eight years. Despite all of the hardship she has endured, Hilly remains a very happy and loving little girl. Everyone at the shelter loved her and all were raving about what a sweetheart she is.

Rescue claimed Hilly from the shelter, filthy and severely malnourished, and had her evaluated by our vet. It was discovered that she has large tumors on her belly. She also had a mass on her shoulder. All were removed. Hilly suffered too from an infected tail pocket due to neglect and her tail had to be amputated. The tumors were biopsied and sent for evaluation. Just recently, we received the worst news we could have imagined. Sweet Hilly suffers from not one, but two types of cancer; Mast Cell and Sarcoma.

While this gentle girl has not seen care or kindness yet in her life and suffers from a deadly disease, it is the mission of the Rescue volunteers to make absolutely certain that whatever time Hilly has left in this world is filled with affection, happiness, lots of treats and most of all, LOVE.

Please open your hearts to this wonderful girl and help us give Hilly all of these things that she has never experienced but so well deserves.

Tug

Tug is a gentle, tiny soul, weighing in at 34 lbs., who wants nothing more than to be with someone. He doesn’t like to be left alone, but is perfectly content when with a human or another dog. Tug was picked up by SCBR from the shelter with a terrible case of demodex and clearly underweight. (Read More)

"After the unexpected loss of our yellow lab, we decided that our home needed another dog. While browsing through MANY internet sites, we spotted Sugar. We NEVER envisioned getting a Bulldog. However, Sugar’s story (along with the video of her playing ball, online) was heart-wrenching. Sugar made an immediate impression on our family. After playing with Sugar for a while, there was NO QUESTION she would be coming home with us!! This proved to be one of the best decision ever !! Sugar has adapted wonderfully to our home and family. She receives true ‘Princess’ treatment. The blessing of working with the Southern California Bulldog Rescue has proven to be a WONDERFUL experience. All these wonderful dogs want is a happy home and someone to love them. SUGAR FOUND BOTH & EVERYONE IS VERY HAPPY."
